Many health alerts regarding animal products have arisen in recent years; the avian and swine influenzas, and 'mad cow' disease top among them. All these potential epidemics have one thing in common; the animals that have been infected with these bacteria and infections have come from factory farms. What is worse is that those animals are filled with antibiotics routinely so as to head off harmful bacteria, but the few microorganisms that are resistant to the antibiotics thrive in the absence of the nonresistant strains.
